When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, He came to this world as a child, dependent on Mary and Joseph. One day when Jesus returns, He will return as King, and every knee will bow before Him. Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be called "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6, NIV) We can have peace with God if we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ now. Have you surrendered your life to Christ?
Throughout the Old Testament, there are hundreds of prophecies that Jesus fulfilled. As we approach Christmas this year, we will take a look back at some of those prophecies and see how Jesus was the promised child, the promised servant, and the promised king. On Christmas day we will celebrate together that Jesus came as Messiah to fulfill God’s Word and promise. Our memory verses say it best:
“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts. The Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’ So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has also made you an heir.” (Galatians 4:4-7)
