Why Spend the Summer in the Psalms?

Pastor John Nixon introduces the Summer in Psalms series by taking a look at the big-picture structure of the Book of Psalms, and the impact that the Psalms can have for the individual believer. In these scriptural songs, we can find a model for expressing our hearts in our relationship with God.

Scripture References: Psalms 23:1-6

From Series: "Summer in Psalms"

This summer we will be reading and preaching through the Psalms. The Psalms are wonderful to study in the midst of rejoicing and sorrow, good times and rough times, moments where you seek to praise God for what he is done and moments where you want to cry out in pain asking God why he has allowed certain things in your life. It is an important book for each of us to read. We will begin this series on June 12th. During the month of July, the Psalms passages will coordinate with our D6 curriculum and kids devotionals. Since the Psalms were songs…we will be doing something special in August. Each week we will preach on a psalm and then sing that psalm together. If you want to learn those songs ahead of time, you can look them up on Spotify or YouTube: Psalm 46 (Lord of Hosts), Psalm 130 (I Will Wait for You), Psalm 66 (Come and See), and Psalm 8 (Tell the Story). All four songs are sung by Shane and Shane.
