After establishing a church in Port-au-Prince, Haiti several years ago, we have now been involved in Bible translation with Bibles International, the Bible Society of Baptist Mid-Missions. I work as the Editorial Coordinator. All manuscripts, once completed on the field, come to my desk for formatting, making concordance, glossary, Bible maps, etc., to make ready for printing. I have traveled many times in the past to help national translators with computer entry and formatting. Now, with everyone having computers, most of my correspondence is done via e-mail. Bibles International is presently working with over forty different translation projects around the world. Pat keeps busy working at the office one day per week or more as needed. She is one of the Bibles International office hostesses, helps with guests at the office, and ministers often in our home.

Who is on your team?
We are about twenty-five here in Grand Rapids at the Bibles International office plus about twenty traveling consultants that direct translation workshops around the world. We also have three translation centers in other countries each with their staff. They are in India, Chad, and Myanmar.

Where have you seen God working in your ministry? We just returned from Ghana for the dedication of the Dagaare New Testament. I worked with the team in Ghana to help format and prepare the text for printing. What excitement to have the privilege of seeing people holding God’s Word in their hands in their own language. I have been personally involved in over twenty-five Bible and New Testament translations, along with many portions of scripture, plus several Bible story books and literacy primers. We have reports where people were not interested in hearing about Jesus when it was being given from a different language. But when they heard the Bible being read in their own language they were ready to listen. This has resulted in many accepting the Lord.
